I started teaching simple mindful practices to busy healthcare employees to help relax and destress. And they loved it! This grew into a comprehensive mindfulness program in a large healthcare organization with over 30,000 employees: 

  • I developed a six-session abbreviated course based upon Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR). 
  • Conduc

 

I started teaching simple mindful practices to busy healthcare employees to help relax and destress. And they loved it! This grew into a comprehensive mindfulness program in a large healthcare organization with over 30,000 employees: 

  • I developed a six-session abbreviated course based upon Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR). 
  • Conducted numerous in-person classes  and webinars and found significant reductions of perceived stress and burnout.
  • Posted 30 guided meditations of varying lengths and types accessed on-demand by thousands of our employees.
  • Set up live 'Take 10' phone meditations five days a week. 
  • Conducted monthly mindfulness webinars and numerous single session classes to departments to help with stress, focus and wellbeing.

Working with very resilient but stressed employees taught me a few things:

  • Simple, quick practices that can easily fit into a busy hectic day work best.
  • With some practice, one can train the mind and body to calm down quickly with brief purposeful pauses, which can be tapped into even during the most hectic days.

  • With some practice, one can train the mind and body to calm down quickly with brief purposeful pauses, which can be tapped into even during the most hectic days.
  • It's hard to establish a daily habit for most people even if they are motivated, so I included tips and strategies on building healthy habits.
  • Stress - people really get better at stress by changing how they think and what they believe about stress. Mindfulness helps us step back from stress.
  • Practical, everyday informal practices that can done on the go are important.
  • The structure of a weekly class helps to establish a good mindfulness routine.
  • Finding a 'Buddy' to practice with will make a huge difference.
  • I practice what I preach and understand the ups and downs of a mindfulness practice
